One of the biggest jackpots ever won on a mobile slot game was recorded this week in the United Kingdom, when one lucky player took home the sum of nearly 6 million (A$9.2 million).
The anonymous player, who hails from Scotland, was watching TV and playing Playtech's popular Jackpot GIant progressive slot game at the same time. She opted to wage around $8 per spin - not realizing that her stake would yield a prize so big that it is equivalent to 170 years pay in the UK!
What is known about the player is that she is a librarian from Glasgow who has been a regular player at Gala Bingo for three years. On the fateful night, the player took out her Android Galaxy S5 and started spinning the reels of Playtech's omni channel slot game Jackpot Giant.
"I picked up my mobile and started playing while I was watching TV," said the player. "Minutes later I saw a huge string of numbers coming up and realized I'd hit the jackpot."
"I was simply blown away and couldn't believe I'd won," she continued. "It's still sinking in and my family and I are still in a complete state of shock."
Biggest UK Mobile Slot Record
The UK player's win was the biggest ever progressive slot prize claimed in the country, and the second biggest in the entire Playtech progressive network since Beach Life slot's jackpot dropped in 2012 at 6.2 million.
"To claim the UK mobile slot jackpot record is fantastic and proves we lead the industry when it comes to progressive jackpot games," said the COO of Playtech, Shimon Akad. "I'd like to also congratulate Gala Bingo and their winning player."
"This is yet another great reason to be part of Playtech, the gaming industry's leading and most dynamic omni-channel company," he added.
Multiple Jackpots Hit
Playtech remains one of the highest-paying software groups when it comes to jackpot wins. Last year, for example, saw over 20,000 progressive jackpot wins across the group's 70 progressive games each month - or 695 per DAY.
There are tens of millions of dollars up for grabs in Playtech's progressive jackpot network.
Playtech's games are spread across 120 licensees in 20 different countries, including online, retail and mobile operators, land based groups and government-sponsored entities.
